"Take a hike!"

With those angry words, Billy Joel pulled the plug on his four-and-a-half-year marriage to much-younger wife Katie Lee during an explosive fight in mid-June, The ENQUIRER has learned exclusively.

The 60-year-old Piano Man, who's been married twice before, has already retained a top lawyer and is expected to hit the courthouse again soon to file for divorce from Katie Lee, 27, say close sources.

The final straw for the superstar musician was his young wife's refusal to end her cozy relationship with Yigal Azrouel, a handsome 36-year-old Israeli-born fashion designer.

In our April 20 issue, The ENQUIRER reported that Katie Lee had been seeing Yigal for nearly a year. She'd moved out of Billy's Long Island mansion to the New York condo they have - just blocks from Yigal's boutique.

Billy, who had been away for months on a long concert tour, was told by close pals that Katie Lee was up to no good - and that he should dump her.

Their final fight occurred when Katie Lee asked Billy to accompany her to an event she was hosting in the Hamptons on June 13, said the source.

"He snapped, 'So now you want me to be by your side and play your happy husband?! Take a hike!'"

I thought he was buying her a restaurant. Time will tell what's true or not.

In the early 90s, I was visiting a prominent real estate office in Manhattan when two brokers right in front of me started talking about how fragile Christie Brinkley and Billy Joel's marriage was at that point. I filed the information away mentally and was none too surprised when they separated a few years later.

Billy Joel is buying a restaurant in Sag Harbor for his celebrity chef and cookbook author wife, Katie Lee Joel, according to a TMZ report. Reps for both Joels couldn't be reached for comment, and restaurants in town had not heard the news. Tim Luzadre, manager of Estia's Little Kitchen in Sag Harbor, says, "That'd be nice. She needs her own restaurant."

well what a dumbass he is. all these men that date/marry women half their age are deluded idiots! Go ahead & tell yourself she loves you, not just your money, but don't be surprised when she leaves/cheats w/someone closer to her own age.
The woman is less than half is age for crying out loud! How did he expect it to turn out?

Eh, he's a musical genius but he's never been good with relationships. i hope the sex was good for all the dough this divorce is going to cost him. It was only a matter of time from day one

Apparently, this is true. Its on several other sites and his rep has issued a statement saying they were going their separate ways....

Feel bad for Billy, though honestly, he should have known better. Hope he had a good prenup

Singer Billy Joel Splits From Wife Wednesday June 17, 2009

Billy Joel and Katie Lee Joel have split.

"After nearly five years of marriage Billy Joel & Katie Lee Joel have decided to separate," a rep for the couple tells Usmagazine.com. "This decision is a result of much thoughtful consideration. Billy & Katie remain caring friends with admiration and respect for each other."
Rumors of a rocky marriage have been surfacing lately.

New York's Daily News reports that Lee, 27, was spotted dirty dancing with 36-year-old Israeli-born fashion designer Yigal Azrouel, who has frequently escorted her to events.

The paper reports he has even referred to her as his "girlfriend."

But a source tells Us affair rumors "had nothing to do" with the split.

"Everything is very amicable and it was just a growing apart," the source adds.

Joel was 55 years old when he wed Katie Lee, then 23, at his 15-acre waterfront Center Island estate in Long Island, N.Y., in 2004.

Joel was previously wed to Christie Brinkley (1985-94) and business manager Elizabeth Weber (1973-82).
