I think they were lovers. She'll never admit it.
As one of the most talked-about romances of Hollywood's Golden Age, it has since provoked decades of speculation.
What exactly did happen between matinee idols Errol Flynn and Olivia de Havilland when the cameras stopped rolling?
Now for the first time - and at the age of 92 - Miss de Havilland has confirmed they had a relationship, but one that was not fully consummated.
Long history: Olivia de Havilland and Errol Flynn in popular 1938 film The Adventures Of Robin Hood
The double Oscar winner starred with Flynn in his breakthrough film, Captain Blood, in 1935.
Seven more swiftly followed, including The Charge of the Light Brigade in 1936 and The Adventures of Robin Hood in 1938.
Despite Miss de Havilland's earlier denials, many suspected she and Flynn had had an affair, not least because he was such a notorious womaniser.
Now she has admitted: 'We were very attracted to each other. In his autobiography, My Wicked, Wicked Ways, he wrote about falling in love with me.
'Yes, we did fall in love and I believe that this is evident in the screen chemistry between us.
'But his circumstances at the time prevented the relationship going further.
On-screen chemistry: Errol Flynn and Olivia de Havilland in 1941 film They Died With Their Boots On - one of many movies that they starred together in, and over time fell in love
'I have not talked about it a great deal but the relationship was not consummated.
'Chemistry was there though. It was there.'
Flynn was married to Lili Damita, an actress five years his senior, when he met Miss de Havilland.
Several years later Miss de Havilland, not entirely accurately, said: 'He never guessed I had a crush on him.
Revelation: From her Paris home, Olivia de Havilland admits she and Flynn were in love, despite years of denial
'And it didn't get better either.
'In fact, I read in something that he wrote that he was in love with me when we made The Charge of the Light Brigade.
'I was amazed to read that, for it never occurred to me that he was smitten with me, too, even though we did all those pictures together.'
Miss de Havilland then denied a film historian's claims that she became romantically involved with Australian-born Flynn while filming Robin Hood.
Flynn's good looks and magnetic charm ensured his success with legions of women during a turbulent life which was cut short with a heart attack aged 50 in 1959.
Born in Australia in June 1909, he always referred to himself as Irish after his father's homeland.
After his overnight sensation in Captain Blood he quickly became stereotyped for swashbuckling roles involving lots of sword fights.
He starred in The Sea Hawk in 1940 and Adventures of Don Juan in 1948 but by the 1950s had become a spent force due to heavy alcohol and drug abuse.
Miss de Havilland is the last living star of Gone With the Wind from 1939 in which she played Melanie Hamilton Wilkes.
Fellow survivors from 1930s Hollywood include her younger sister Joan Fontaine, Shirley Temple, Maureen O'Hara, Luise Rainer, Deanna Durbin and Gloria Stuart.
She won Best Actress Academy Awards for To Each His Own in 1946 and The Heiress in 1949.
In 1946, she married Marcus Goodrich, a novelist with whom she had a son. They divorced in 1953 and she married Paris Match editor Pierre Galante. After having a daughter they divorced in 1979.
Miss de Havilland made her comments about Flynn when questioned by Royal Society of Chemistry researchers apparently investigating on-screen chemistry.

I wonder if this is a recent picture of her at 92? If so, she looks fanfreakingtastic.![]()
If their relationship wasn't "fully consummated" (whatever the hell that means) she didn't know what she was missing. His wang was even bigger than Grimm's by all accounts.

Isn't Errol Flynn the guy that was exposed to be a pedophile by L. Ron Hubbard's son? IIRC, he was big into co$ in the 50's and liked little boys, but maybe I'm thinking of the wrong person.
Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but some abuse the privilege.
