Cher's daughter Chastity Bono is changing gender from female to male

Cher is about to get a new son.

Chastity Bono, the celebrity offspring of the singer and late husband Sonny Bono, is changing gender from female to male, TMZ.com reported Thursday.
The 40-year-old, known to family and friends as Chaz, came out as a lesbian nearly two decades ago.

Bono now intends to make the transition from woman to man, her publicist told TMZ.

"He is proud of his decision and grateful for the support and respect that has already been shown by loved ones," said Howard Bragman. "It is Chaz's hope that his choice to transition will open the hearts and minds of the public regarding this issue, just as his coming out did nearly 20 years ago."

(ADDED) - Bragman declined to answer any further questions about the sex change.
Transitioning typically involves hormone therapy, and sometimes - although not always - includes surgery.

I didn't realize she identified as a man, I thought she was happy being a woman who just happened to be a lesbian.

But is he doing the actual sexual reassignment surgery? I hear about people not doing that because they may not be able to orgasm with their new parts. That would suck.

I just find it a little weird that people are already calling her 'he' and 'him' when she's still a she...

some people don't go through gender reassignment surgery for the reasons stated above, or only get the hormone therapy, but still consider themselves the opposite gender. it's not about outward appearance though that is also a part of it.

My little girl....

What can I say? Be happy. I saw Chas(z) with her grandmother when she was 13 and she moved like a young guy. Nothing in Cher's life can possibly shock her anymore.
