I like this girl.

Whenever I see a promising actress or a hot young thing
I always ask myself, "could she play the Bette Davis role
in The Letter?", which is one of my favorite movies.

Most of the time (e.g., Patricia Arquette) the answer is no.
But in Kate's case, the answer is yes.

You know what annoys me about Kate Winslet? She hasn't been heavy since the movie Titanic and the press keeps dubbing her as this larger sized actress. She's not large. She's THIN! She hasn't been heavy in years and she keeps giving interviews about her 'size' when she's clearly conformed to Hollywood. They wanted her to lose weight and she did.

Kate Winslett looks great when she's serious or photographed in a studio. They can capture her good features because she can be photogenic in some lighting, but she's not beautiful to me. She has a good 'photography face' when serious, but I could NEVER stand her open mouthed smile. She needs dental work or bleaching. I think that's why the best pictures you see of her are with her mouth closed or with a serious look.

Kate's one of the very few pretty women who has an ugly smile and that's a big downfall in my opinion--a woman with a not so flattering smile. It takes a lot from her.

I think she's well..everyday pretty. Not stunning or anything. I mean if I saw her walking down the street I may notice her and think she's cute/pretty and then forget about her right away but I don't think she's beautiful or gorgeous. I think her talent/personality contribute much more to her popularity than her looks , similar to Cate Blanchett. Both aren't great beauties or anything but both are talented classy actresses.

Well, aren't these actresses, and in some cases, actors always complaining that they want to be admired for their talent, not their looks?!

^they're getting admiration for their talent because they are very talented and although they aren't unattractive they aren't physically attractive enough either to get by on looks alone and zero talent. With actresses like Kate Winslet and Cate Blanchett talent and class make up most of their appeal IMHO, because talent in itself is attractive/sexy.

Well, I think Kate Winslett is very pretty when she doesn't smile and that's a very strange thing to say!! lol!! For most women, a smile brightens their face, it makes them more attractive, but in Kate's case, it doesn't. She has beautiful bone structure it's just a shame that she doesn't have a nice smile because she would be absolutely stunning if she did.
