She's totally lying in that interview! I can't believe she had the nerve to disrespect Aaliyah in that way!! She knows she is trying to be like Aaliyah. She's just tryna down-play it. Liar! RIP Aaliyah.

I just bought the FADER magazine cover (tribute to an icon) with Aaliyah on the cover, and inside the article they have several messages from various people in her life (some famous, some semi famous, some not) and Ciara's pissed me off. She wasn't even talking about Aaliyah, she just talked about herself and kept explaining how she wasn't trying to be like her, blah blah blah. Shut up ho! Ain't nobody asked you all of that.
I typed up what she said:
Quote:
CIARA
I wanted to make sure I wasn't doing the things Aaliyah was doing, but I think there are some things that you just can't avoid. I'm a tomboy and to my understanding, that's a similarity with her and I'm sure that's the reason why we wear clothes a certain way. It was just important to me to make sure that we had different energy, that there are different things going on. I wear my baggy pants because thats what I feel. It's just me expressing myself, and in no shape or way of trying to emulate what she has done, although I have tons of respect for her. It's funny too, because I remember a time period when Missy Elliott was telling me that I reminded her of Aaliyah and I felt that was really touching because she was saying that I reminded her of her on a personal note and I've heard so many great things about her personality. I heard she was very sweet and for Missy to say that was very, very meaningful to me. As an artist too, because of those comparisons, it has really, really motivated me to create my own things and just be true to who I am. If she was here, I would've loved to maybe do a song or do a video together. To be able to merge our styles would've been really cool.
Ciara is an R&B singer.

^^ Half of that paragraph doesn't even make sense, she seems a little dim and retarded. I am not a huge R&B/ Aaliyah fan but i still think all these new girls that are coming out now have nothing on Aaliyah, she had something special which made her stand out.

She was so beautiful (inside and out) and had this natural sex appeal that didn't seem forced (something that I find rare today). I looked up to her when I was a kid and was so devastated when I learned of her death. I loved her music when I was younger and her "One In a Million" album is still on heavy rotation in my ipod. Such a shame that she had to leave us so soon...
Oh yeah...Ciara has nothing on Aaliyah whatsoever...

Interesting, what did they say about her? Did she really marry R. Kelly?
Her face is kind of long, but she has pretty eyes and nice smile.

I'm with you Crumpet...I think Aaliyah had a masculine face also. She was 'cute' at best, but I don't think she was pretty. What I liked about her was the way she seemed so polite and soft-spoken in interviews. She seemed like a sweet girl and it was a shame she died. Aaliyah's death reminds me of Selena...both died at 23 and both were headed for super stardom.

That's what I was going to ask? I'm looking at the poster I have of Aaliyah and there's nothing masculine in her face.
Now, Ciara on the other hand could do the sequel to the Crying Game since she looks like a tranny.

That was mean LOL.
I have an Aaliyah and Left Eye painting on my wall. I cried when they died, especially Aaliyah. She was my idol.
