yuck, yuck, yuck yuck..I can't wait for the day when she just drops out of the public eye..She cannot sing, is NOT pretty and thinks she should still wear ass-showing outfits..Your old sweetheart, get over it.

Yes, she can, and superbly, in fact.

I'll give her that she can sing. However, she doesn't do it all that often. The thing she has chosen to do is vocal acrobatics and all the little singers followed in her footsteps after that (Christina, the idols chick, Jessica etc. etc. hell, even Beyonce) where 1 syllable can take up to four bars to finish

Also, she's very ugly but seems to be surrounded by a bunch of people who are hired to tell her she's the prettiest thing on the planet. Maybe you are, chimpgirl, on the planet of the APES!

Her poses are always so "arranged" and over styled. In the golden Hollywood era they made these "overly posed" photos of the movie stars to elevating them to icon status. Of course most of them had going for them that they were actually nice looking or beautiful people or had class, none of which scary Carey has

Yeah, it's called melisma, IMO, it's thrilling at first, but too much of it is just dull.

And her constant use of the whistle register (the high, high, HIGH notes she sings) is wearing down on her voice; its consistent use can be very damaging.

She can sing, I agree. If she would only dress better. Hell, at least wear something. I worry she is going to get a chest cold when I see her in NYC in the winter with NOTHING covering her. geez.

Ahem...so what's wrong with this singer? IMHO,
she has to learn to modulate her voice to suit the needs of
the song. Not every note needs to be belted out, or
held on for eleven bars, but you wouldn't know that
from hearing Carey -- it's like she's still auditioning
to show us what her voice can do. She can take an
overwrought song like "Without You" by Nilsson and
make it even MORE overwrought.

That is exactly what she's doing. My opinion as a singer, is that there's nothing wrong with that, other musicians do it, but the voice isn't really taken seriously as an instrument.

However, as a listener, that's one of the most annoying things about her.

And who's Nilsson?

"Nilsson" was Harry Nilsson, who was a one-hit wonder
in the early 1970s. He wrote the song "(Can't Live, if living
means) Without You", which was a #1 smash.

good call . . . she always looks overly styled and overly posed. like she's incapable of being spontaneous. its very off putting.

I idolise MC, since I was a little lad, but she has not made the best decisions with her wordrobe. She blames her stylists, but no one puts a gun to her head and makes her wear the crap. I know for sure she likes thigh high dresses and alter's alot of designer dresses that were given to her to wear. And when they get pissed at her, the are less clothes for her to choose from.
