I think she's remarkably beautiful - she reminds me of a porcelain doll but obviously with a lot of character and personality underneath that pretty facade.

"scarlett o'hara" was not a classical beautiful woman like the viven leigh
viven leigh's eyebrows were roughed up a little to be like "scarlett o'hara"
yes, killer green eyes do help with the charming
especially, when the eye shape looks like lauren bacall 's great eyes

yeah unfortunetely she had major mental problems that couldnt be helped in those days (although I think she passed away due to pneumonia) like they can be now same with the lovely Rita Hayworth...so sad.

If GWTW and Titanic swapped places, she wouldn't have won the Oscar... And Kate Winslet would have.
Love her in GWTW. Sad to see she turned into a fruit loop. I think she resembles Thors Birch sometimes.

Rita Hayworth had Alzheimer's. I don't think there's a cure for that, yet.

I recently watched her 'Biography' and never realized she had mental issues her entire life (or most of). How very sad! Such a stunning, talented woman!
And to die so young.

I read a biography about her. At one point when she was married to Sir Larry she became a nymphomaniac. She had to have sex all the time. It really embarrassed him. She started picking up random men to screw. He went through hell being married to her. i was so glad he had a nice calm life after with Joan Plowright. Vivian was an extraordinary beauty but a true looney.

^ Like someone said in another thread about Marilyn Monroe, the most beautiful people always seem to be troubled/have tragic lives.

I think she had a pretty major case of manic-depression, and it was during her manic phases that she turned into a nymphomaniac. If my memory serves me right, one particularly extreme episode was first 'outed' in one of David Niven's early books, possibly Bring On The Empty Horses, in two chapters about a character he names only as 'Missy'. A little later Stewart Granger brought out his own autobiography in which described exactly the same incident - except that he actually named her (how gallant!). I believe it was the manic phases that eventually caused the rift with Olivier. Hope I haven't got all that hopelessly wrong. My memory is pretty crap.

I only watched GWTW for the first time towards the end of 2005. I absolutely loved it. Excellent film. Proved that it wasn't just me who thought movies were declining in Hollywood these days...
Sad about her. But whoever said she looked like she had some work done in her later days... are you mad!? She was what, 50-something, and looks like a dead prune!

And how amazingly recent in terms of photo quality this looks. Almost as good as that Warren Beatty/ Faye Dunaway photo floating around here somewhere.

I remember the first time my mom introduced me to Gone with the Wind and me thinking that she was most gorgeous woman I had ever seen. some of these pictures she looks a little harsh, but she's just amazing on the screen.
