Hepburn was such a character. And yes, she had a unique beauty,
very recognizable and in a way, iconic. She was all about casual chique.
I´m not a fan of hers, but I think Parker Posey has the same type of
bone structure:

I wonder if I should have put a poll on this....personally looks wise, I don't think she came into her own until the 1940s, when MGM got a hold of her and decided that she should just look like herself instead of trying to fit her in a mold. But she had a nice trim build and great bone structure, and could look downright gorgeous when she wanted to. I'm thinking she had something done to her nose and mouth, but I could be wrong; PS wasn't too advanced back then.
Here, not so much....but the rest of them, yeah.

Cheekbones maybe. But not the haughty dignity. Hepburn was one of a kind, Woman of the Year.
There will never be another. God bless her for being such a unique and talented individual who left behind such a great body of work on film.
^^ She did have amazing cheekbones, but I never liked her much as an actress. She seemed too self-aware and I always saw Katharine Hepburn instead of the character.
Love watching her stuff. Trend setter. Wore the most awesome looking menswear-style pants before everyone else did and looked GREAT in them.

I didn't mind her acting, but she could be very arrogant and hypercritical of other actors. She made nasty comments about Meryl Streep's acting and Glenn Close's physical appearance that sounded very catty and quite beneath her. LOL, I guess she was human after all.
But I don't know if she was the great thespian some make her out to be. She herself said, "Show me an actress without a personality, and I'll show you an actress who isn't a star!". Her personality IMO triumphed over her acting ability. My fave performances of hers were the ones where she gave her least mannered performances, like Summertime.
If you want to see Hepburn engage in bad acting, watch Undercurrent - she's so cast against type as the spinster who marries Robert Taylor, only to wonder if he's a murderer....she was truly awful in some of the scenes.
^^Thanks for the warning, I am going to avoid Undercurrent. We watched Holiday a few nights ago, hub kinda liked it, but I really hated it. She overacted and was so annoying that I wanted to strangle her.![]()
Aww,she insulted Meryl and Glenn? What exactly did she say?![]()
She saw Glenn onstage doing The Real Thing, and made some unsavory comment about her feet - saying that they were large and ugly. And when someone asked her what she thought of Streep, she said, "Click! Click! Click!"...referring to Streep's technical abilities as an actress. Some say Streep "clicks" off each element of her performance whatever that means, I like her. I think Kate was a tad jealous that Streep was getting the same amount of acclaim and Oscar noms as she was getting. I think Streep has passed the number of nominations, hasn't she?
ETA: Apparently, the comment about Close's feet were a big misunderstanding. FOXNews.com - Glenn Close: Hepburn Didn't Bigfoot Her - Celebrity Gossip | Entertainment News | Arts And Entertainment
Oh, Holiday. That was based on a play written by Philip Barry, who wrote The Philadelphia Story for Kate.
The latter film was entertaining, and Kate was gorgeous in it, but it has aged pretty badly and when you watch it today, it's almost offensive, how everyone was trying to bring Tracy Lord down a few pegs because she was so independent. Her own philandering father blamed his indiscretions on having a daughter who "wasn't a comfort to him in his old age". Motherfucker, PLEASE! You CHEATED 'cause you CHEATED!!! Wasn't your daughter's fault. That part of the film is unwatchable for me.
There is a quaintness to it I guess; it's heart was in the right place and it was Spencer Tracy's last film, and there were several scenes that I enjoyed, especially where Hepburn's Christina Drayton fires her assistant, Hillary for making insulting comments about her daughter's black fiance'. And the entire cast is very strong, even Hepburn. I thought it was another one of her least mannered and affected performances. Actually, I thought that most of her 30s stuff was awful; much of the acclaim she has received has been for her roles later in her career. Understandably so.
