just finished watching 'Against All Odds' for the hundreth time on Encore. I grew up wanting to be Rachel: husky-posh accent, gorgeous face, perfect legs, breasts & hips. Always hoped that she would have a healthy family and a normal life. When she married Aussie Hottie Bryan Brown, who i admired for his work in 'Breaker Morant' - I was stoked for em both. Just watched him in FX and FX2 last night.

Rachel Ward was born 12 Sept 1957 in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, England. She's the daughter of Claire Leonora & the Hon. Peter Alistair Ward. Her parents later divorced. Her grandfathers were William Ward, 3rd Earl of Dudley and cricketer Giles Baring. Ward is the great-granddaughter of William Ward, 2nd Earl of Dudley, Governor-General of Australia 1908–11 and sister of environmental campaigner Tracy Louise Ward, Marchioness of Worcester. Her younger brother is Alexander Evelyn Giles Ward (born in 1961). She attended the Byam Shaw School of Art in London before leaving at 16 to become a top fashion model. During her modeling stint her stats were: 5' 9" 34C-25½-35

She dated David Kennedy, the doomed son of Robert F. Kennedy in the 70s. In 1983 she was voted one of the 10 most beautiful women in the US. As a young starlet shared a house with fellow model-actress Daryl Hannah. She is an actress, columnist, film director and screenwriter who has primarily pursued her career in Australia.

She met Bryan Brown on the set of "The Thorn Birds" (1983), married him in 1983 and had their honeymoon during the filming of 'Against All Odds.' In the late 80s her career hit a snag and she disappeared from the US. They have two daughters, a son and live in Australia, where she primarily works now.

Rachel was it. Stunning. Couldn't act but fit the bill. I don't like the way she looks now, if she gained 20 lbs she'd look healthier and prettier. I think she has that low body fat kind of body.

never saw 'The Thorn Birds' series, cuz i couldn't stand Richard Chamberlain. However, I liked her immediately in Sharky's Machine and followed her appearance in films since. I agree, she'd look healthier if she put on 10 to 15 lbs. Her bad habits (smoking, alcohol) finally caught up and reflect on her face.

When I first saw her, back in the 1980's, I was blown away. Beautiful, mesmerizing looks. Nice smooth voice, too.

It looks like she is still married to Bryan Brown? That would be pretty cool -- because it would mean they've been married about 25 years by now.

I haven't really seen her in anything else. Back then, she was a pretty
limited actress, to put it mildly. Was that her first role? That would
explain it.
She aged rather quickly and badly, in some recent pics she reminds me
of Robin Gibb, and that is never a good thing.

The Thorn Birds also starred the great Barbara Stanwyck in one of her last
big roles, and the recently departed Jean Simmons, as Rachel's distant
mother.
