I'm watching The Only Game in Town. The two beauties, Liz and Warren just didn't have it. They just don't look right together despite their beauty. Her hair is all wrong too but her face and omg her eyes are just huge. He was funny but she was too melodramatic. I prefer when she's saucy.
What's the story with this one? Was this one supposed to be with Frank?
The story behind the movie is probably more entertaining than the movie
itself. Though the story plays in Vegas, it was filmed in Paris because
Taylor insisted on being close to hubby Burton, who was filming in Europe.
So, production moved there exploding the budget before one reel was
shot. Sinatra was contracted as co-star, but Taylor got ill and shooting
was postponed. Sinatra had other obligations, so George Stevens - one
of Beatty's mentors - called upon him to take over the part, which he
did as a favor to Stevens.
Taylor was all wrong for the part of the Vegas chorus dancer: she was
too short and matronly, and her back problems even made it impossible
for her to do any show dance sequences so she was shot in close-up
for the show scenes. Also, her character was supposed to be a few
years younger than Beatty's character, when in reality she's 5 years
older than him, and in the movie looked almost 10 years older.
Her acting is appalling in the movie, very artificial and her voice and
(character's) stammer are super annoying. The hair is impossibly big
and only emphasizes how big her head is. She was only 37 when they
shot this but looks older and way too old for a chorus girl.
Also, like his experience earlier when he first met Natalie Wood on
the set of Splendor in the Grass, pretty much the same thing
happened with Taylor: unlike Beatty, both actresses traveled and
worked with great personal entourages including assistents, make-
up artists, secretaries, hairdressers and in Liz' case some of her
children, whereas Beatty traveled light and came alone. They did
befriend each other, though, and went on several double dates
with their respective partners in that period.

Do not kill me,but he never did it to me.Impressive physique-yes,cutesy boyish charm-yes,aging gracefully-yes,but I don't find him that striking.
However,he's so criminally underrated as an actor it almost pains me.Brilliant in Reds,Heaven Can Wait,Bugsy, even Dick Tracy;Beatty definitely deserved a much longer-lasting acting career.
No worries, tastes differ.
Well, although he is underrated as an actor, Warren never was out for
an acting career as much as his peers were. He's known to take a lot
of time (years) "off" in between movies, either to persue other interests
(such as politics, working on campaigns for candidates he endorses) or
to do research for movies. Since his marriage and fatherhood, he's often
expressed that he was doing stuff much more interesting and important
than the making of movies: starting and raising a family. So, I don't
think he'd agree with the "deserved a longer lasting acting career" part.![]()
