Re: Naveen Andrews [Actor]
I don't think he did anything to his name... his birth name was Naveen Andrews, as far as I know. And his dad's name was like Stanley Andrews or something. I don't know why... maybe his dad was mixed?

Re: Naveen Andrews [Actor]
Well, he certainly does not look Anglo-Indian (half caucasian/half Indian). He can't be a mixed breed. He has no western features.
There is one theory that his father converted him to Christianity.
If this is the case, he is not truely an Indian and the parts he has played for Indian/western cross-over movies should have gone to proper Indians who know about the culture and practices. Much better roles models.
I am proud to be Indian. I don't care that I was born in England. All it means is that I have an accent and people often wonder what the hell I am in the U.S. I tell them I'm an "Indian who happens to be born in England", and yeah, I kept my full name because it's my family name and it bears a lot of history, signifying my ancestory with the ancient Arayans.
England's okay. Sometimes the people really annoyed me but it was fun growing up with the good ones.
He's a bit harsh on England. He should show "some love" for the country and any friends he had left behind. After all, it was the country that he came from to journey to the U.S.
I appreciate all the support I found at various soccer clubs I played for in England. Some coaches and collegaues really helped me develop as a player (since I started very late in the game). Education was the same way, although, some educators truely were poor there. True fuddy duddies that hindered rather than do their job.
Oh well, that's just life and the luck of the draw.
I still stress, I am not trying to put Naveen down. He just needs to think a little about blurting stuff out in Interviews.
In addition, change that silly name. No Indian is called "Andrews" by surname lol. It's popostrous! I say!
Sincerely,
GothyCowboy ^v^

Re: Naveen Andrews [Actor]
His parents were Christian, yes.
I don't understand what he's supposed to change his name to.... he was born with a name, why wouldn't he keep it if it doesn't bother him? Should he make up a fake name to seem more Indian? To me that would seem worse and make him look like a phoney.

Re: Naveen Andrews [Actor]
Well, I do believe he should find out what his family name truely was and change it back to that (if not to just restore the family name). That is if he is not embarassed by it, and more importantly, if he wants to validate his acknowledgment of his Indian part. I've seen Indian people act all weird when they hit some level of fame. It's just uh! Annoying.
Did you know, Queen's frontman was an anglo-Indian? And he always tried to hide that fact? Why? Makes me so mad. Tut tut!

Re: Naveen Andrews [Actor]
it's hard for naveen to hide his origin
but i am with muchlove here. why should he change his name if that's how he was born? just to go around and "proof" everyone that he is indian origin and that he is proud of it. i am mixed and i am proud of both "parts" but that's not a reason for me to change my last name into a "common" german name or my first name into an african-american name.

Re: Naveen Andrews [Actor]
I find him really strangely attractive, like looking at pics of him does nothing, but his whole manner and the way he speaks and the like is really foxy.
From IMDB:
"Born Naveen William Sidney Andrews in London, England of Indian origin on January 17, 1969"
So perhaps you peeps are pissed because he's not using all his middle names or something?!

I'm sorry but this is just a load of crap. He was born with the name Andrews. It's his father's name. Why should he change it?

Re: Naveen Andrews [Actor]
Because then his name would match his face! Ridiculous that people are jumping on him for his name when he hasn't even changed it. It's just uh! Annoying.
