Both sides of Johnny's family has Cherokee (sp?) ancestry, as well as German and Irish. Also, the name Depp is supposed to have originated from the french last name of Dieppe. Also, both sides of his family are from Kentucky. That's all I know.

Am I right to assume you asked that question because full lips are usaully associated with people of African descent. Who knows, maybe Johnny's dad has some black people in his family. Many light skinned black did pass as white and marry into white families. Some white families that have black ancestry did sometimes try to hide the truth and say instead that they had indian in them and that explains why a child came out so dark. Than again some white people just have big lips with out any mixing.

No, you are wrong in that assumption. Africans are not the only race
with full lips. I have always wondered about what colored blood Depp
must have in his lineage, since he looks a bit like a few of my cousins
and we are mutts (about 9 "nationalities/ethnicities" including Cherokee,
Indonesian, Scottish, French, Dutch, Indian, German, Jewish).
