Edit: finally found out who he was: Perry Lopez. He acted in tons of TV-series and a few films, amongst which Chinatown. In the next picture he is on the right, again with Natalie Wood.

Do y'all think James Franco did a good job of portraying him on that Cable movie? I never saw it.

me personally I didn't care for it
I watched the entire thing on Youtube and I believe it's still on youtube
yes he looks like Dean and perhaps much more then anyone else ever did and nailed down alot of his mannerisms
actually Leo Dicaprio was tapped to play him in the 90's when the project first came together but it was delayed as it was in developmental hell
it was supposed to be a 20 million dollar picture but wound up on TNT and producer Bill Gerber claimed Dean wasn't well known anymore by the general movie going audience
however they don't even acknowledge his roommate and friend Bill Bast
and Rogers Brackett is only mentioned like one time when we see him come into a diner where Dean IS
They make too much of the supposed relationship of him and Pier Angeli
as well as him and Christine White
speaking of James Dean movies there is a new one coming out that looks pretty interesting called Joshua Tree 1951
