He was just on last night in "The Long Hot Summer". Nice. I wonder how tall he is??? He is a class act all the way. And to think he is still married to Joanne Woodward..who he starred with in this movie.

I read somewhere that in the seventies people challenged his alleged height of 5'10" and that he returned the challenge that he would give or do something if anybody could prove he wasn't 5'10". I don't know if anybody took up his counter challenge, but he never looked 5'10" to me. I figure him somewhere in the 5'8.5"-5'9" range.
One thing that surprised me when I was older and rewatched some of his movies is how slim and kind of scrawny he was/is. In my memory I had him as quite bulky and muscular. Weird how the mind can play tricks on you and sort of create its own memory of images.

His face is to die for, though. I love that "naughty" air about him, that he's retained until this day.

My mum said hes the most handsome man ever.
He is definetly very attractive; I'm sorry but men were just better looking in those days, give me the paul newmans, and the cary grants and the warren beatty's over the blooms, dicaprio's, and gyllenhaal's anyday!

You're right, TheAntiParis. The guys above are the best looking ones to my taste and just seemed to be men and not these (often) half effeminate or eternally immature, wimpy guys that fill the screens nowadays like indeed the Blooms, Dicaprio's, and Gyllenhaal's or Pitt's for that matter. They seem to be better sculpted, too. These guys nowadays often seem to be assembled from spare parts that don't quite fit together.
Newman was, and is, an extremely handsome man. And those eyes....well, need I say more?

I'm 27, and have also been shocked to what men are like nowadays, compared to back then. yes, very different character. I agree.

I remember my mom thought Paul Newman was very handsome, too. And he was! Those eyes! Yes, I agree men were much more sexy and handsome back in the day. They weren't afraid to be MEN.

If you read the posts carefully, you will find that the sexy comments were made in the past tense. Now we (I think I can speak for those who posted in this thread) think he still looks very good for his age.
And my comments about Paul, but also about Warren, Marlon, Robert and others who are now either dead or getting up there in years, are mostly about them in their prime. If you check my profile, you can see that my "celeb crush" is a prime Warren Beatty.
