I wondered how many posts until Wayne made an appearance.

I don't even care for Wayne's coating. Sheesh. I had no clue.

But what about what's under Wayne's coat?

    this.

we don't have laminate flooring but vintage hardwood in one of the bathrooms and it is fine as long as you have plenty of sealant on it.

I love Waynes Coating! I mean, if I had a passion, I think Waynes Coating would be it. Highly recommended...just please make sure you don't do it at chair rail height, but rather at at least 5 feet tall with a substantial molding on the top, maybe even with a small 1" wide ledge going around the room?

I did it in a bath once in a flip house. Yes, 5 ft high is the way to go in a bath, otherwise it looks odd.

I have laminate in my main floor bath and it's fine. But it just has a toilet too, no shower or tub.

In my kid's bath, with the beadboard wainscoting, the height above the pedestal sink with the chair rail/molding is about 8 inches. It makes a nice backsplash to the sink. We have an inset medicine cabinet in the wall above the sink...I don't see how 5 ft. high wainscot would've worked in our case.

This is actually the bathroom design that inspired us and ours is very similar, except we used beadboard instead of subway tile.

The house we put it in was an older house with really tall ceilings. In comparison to this pic, it was probably a foot/foot and a half taller than this. Probably about 1/3 up from the bottom of the mirror.

I also used it because we ripped out some nasty, old ass tile, and used the wainscoting instead of replacing the tile, so we followed the pre-existing tile line.
