i love the home library pictures too and chartreuse, we share a lot of the same aesthetic, i love the pic you posted.

my ideal is a mix of old architecture and modern/modern vintage furniture. white walls, high ceilings, hardwood floors, clean lines, modern with rustic and industrial elements. cool, neutral tones, a few pops of colour but not too much. no fussiness, no complicated window treatments or clutter or cushions galore. and a velvet sofa. i've always wanted a dark blue velvet sofa but will settle for dark green or ochre velvet.

    so, this type of thing:

and, because it's one of my favourite rooms in the world, the library in the charles & ray eames house:

I really like a room to be fresh and modern, not too modern, but also comfortable. I need something I can sit, lay, read and relax on. It has to be comfy but not overstuffed or over pillowy.

Sput's pics had an immediately calming effect. Not exactly my style, but cool vibe.

that's the idea. my home is my haven, my escape from the world. so to feel at home i need to be in a place that's soothing and not overly stimulating or busy. but still pretty.

This is what's key to me. Your home should surround you with the things that sooth you and make you feel happiness and peace. Remember when you were a kid and your room was your own little slice of "you" in a big house. That's how I look at it as an adult. Of course, it's hard to find a compromise when there's two adults and a kid (plus dog and cat) but that's what makes it fun.

Will do! We're going in June. I plan to spend days in that hammock. The owner of the villa told me there are actually three of them on the property.

AO - the fabric on the yacht chairs is about $250 per yard. Approx 270 Australian dollars for one meter.

Pffffft. The yacht cost millions so a few trifling thousand on upholstery is nothing.

My style is colorful, bohemian, cozy, but not cluttered. I am not a fan of the color white, and I need patterns and both warm and cool colors in the palette.
