Making mudroom storage from an IKEA hack

billy has gone way down in quality in recent years though. we just bought a couple to put along a wall in the kitchen. i've had billys forever, my mother would pack them up and take them with us when we moved countries, but i noticed that the backs on the new ones are way flimsier than they used to be and the veneer chips and peels very easily, as we noticed while assembling them. we're putting frosted glass doors on them though, so at least it'll cover the damage from nailing the backs in.

My fave Ikea hack was a plywood box with 2 drawers used as a laptop stand. Loved it.

"we" = me and my roommate. I moved to NYC and was looking for a place to live, on my own, and then a good friend put me in touch with her sister, who lives here, and who it turns out was looking for a place to live. Neither one of us wanted a roommate. We had drinks, hit it off and decided to look for a place together.
