    Yes it is and though it is spectacular and nice to look at and grows real fast.i am sorry to say i uproot and kill it whereever it grows.I had a huge orange one i killed..but i cant stand the constant shedding and all the bees they attract.

    i love bougainvillea. it's all over chile too. there's one close to my place that is the most amazing magenta/fuchsia colour. it's so brightly coloured it looks fake.

    it grows like crazy in the South U.S. too. I doubt I could get it to grow where I am, too dry.
