Default An American owner for a French chateau

The Château de Courtomer, built in the late 1780s, is a three-story, 38-room mansion that stands near the Normandy village of Courtomer. It now is owned by Elizabeth and Bill Bonner, of Baltimore and London, who are slowly restoring it.

I'd hate to live there, the exterior looks like my old boarding school

it's a really nice château (love the floors) but they did nothing original with the restoration. i don't mean changing any of the architecture or structure but they could have mixed things in a little with the furniture instead of just getting period pieces. it's a bit stuffy.
old houses like this look gorgeous with the occasional modern piece of furniture, abstract art, etc... mixed in with antiques.

the bathroom is also very dull.

my parents were once interested in buying a 'château' somewhere in the south of france (i forgot where precisely). and when they had calculated the entire cost of it (renovation, interior design, ...), they slowly backed out of the project.

    ahh, fishbone parquet...
the dining hall isn't looking too cheery.
i think i agree with sputnik. they restored it when they should have renovated it.
also hate the tiles and the tilework and the ugly chair in the bathroom.

eta: i'm not saying they should alter the architecture or the woodwork in any way.

I would take it.-but it would have to be completely disassembled and shipped piece by piece here to the states since I would not live in France. Hell Lake Havasu, Arizona did it with the London Bridge, right?

Fine..but they would have to ship out all of the French first!

hell if I wanted that I would move to Quebec before France. *hits self*

although the health care thing is really appealing..even Canada's. I work over 60 hours a week..and no health insurance whatsover. Fucked up part of America I tell ya!~
