Default Any ideas for an Irish bedroom?

I want to give my bedroom a make over and I am thinking of doing an Irish theme since I am half Irish, half German.
Any ideas on what to do? I am not about to cover my room with shamrocks.

The idea would be to mix rough-hewn or dark wood furniture with delicate touches like Irish lace curtains and a lacy duvet and/or bedskirt, Irish landscape paintings, plaid pillows...like that.

I was in a bar one night and a friend of mine, who thinks he's Irish, was talking to a real Irish man. Anyway, the Irishman asked my friend:

    Are you from Ireland?
    ...no
    Then, you're not fucking Irish.

That's all I can think of every time I hear the word "Irish". It was so funny because said friend has the shamrock tat, always has an Ireland shirt on, etc.

    My suggestion: Go with Green!

i love green. it has to be the right green though, can't be too dark or too pastel or too pea soup-ish.

OK - bonafide Irish person here - an authenticly themed irish bedroom would have:
cream walls, bare wood floors, lots of flannel and wool blankets (no duvets!) Aran knit throws, probably a bit of lace, rosary beads on the headboard, statue of Holy Mary on the mantlepiece and a picture of Sacred Heart of Jesus over the bed - you know no fun or pleasureable stuff happens in (olden) Irish bedrooms, don't you! -

^^ Thank you. If someone asked me to do an Irish room I'd have to do a lot of research. Looks like you covered it!
