    Default An unconventional French cottage

From the exterior, Gary and Samantha Peterson's Chamonix cottage, which was featured in Marie Claire Maison, is resolutely a traditional Alpine house. But push open its front door, and you'll be confronted with cheerfully decorated interiors bursting with acid colors, massively proportioned spaces, and walls dressed in white, throwing you into a ski vacation universe turned upside down.

The decor imparts little to no warmth. I would not be comfortable spending any time in that place.

I don't think I could live with all their choices, but from the standpoint of what the interiors of ski-area houses like this are normally like (I used to live in a similar house and have been inside a lot of them), I think they have vastly improved things. This would make a good starting point for a livable home, and I'll bet it was an aesthetic mess before they revamped it.

squeeee! love the collision of modern & alpine designs. i really dig the living room...those floor to ceiling curtains & that sectional rock. and, i like the cozy bathroom with that low ceiling. i'm not liking that pink settee, but that could be easily replaced with something else.

hate the pink sofa and the headboard and the blue headboard too but i love what they did with the house and the fug stuff can be easily replaced.
also, that massive sectional needs a bigger coffee table or more small ones. the one they have in the pic is pretty ridiculous. the dinky chandeliers would have to go too.

i can't even begin to imagine what a chalet this size would cost in chamonix...

I love the outside, but the inside is just off beat and tacky.

A cottage should look like a cottage and not like Ikea threw up.

I guess I'm a weirdo but I really like this place. I love the clean look. My condo is sort of similar but obviously far smaller.
