Do men do their fair share around the house?
So do the men you know, or men in general, do their fare share around the house? Do they do the yardwork and fix things, etc. and does that equal the cleaning and cooking(if you do that)? Or are things different with you and yours?

Not in my house! My mum does it all really...although if someone does help she usually re-does the job up to her standard. Fussy mum.

My husband does some things, but I do way, way more because I am a bit of a perfectionist and I like things to be neat and clean. I am fighting a losing battle as he is a slob. Always has been, always will be. Resistance is futile, lol. It's the clutter and the coffee drips all over the house -- he keeps filling his cup to the brim -- and the constant splatters down the cupboards. Ack!!!!

I think men try-they just see things differently. In our case, Mr. pays for the maid service. That works.

Not around this house. But, he does do some of the more "manly" things. Like removing spiders (safely of course), taking out the trash and lifting heavy objects

Mr Phil does his fair share - not always the way I'd like it done - but he's a great cook and actually enjoys doing it so we share that 50:50. He can do most things - his mother taught him well - but we have different ideas about what's 'important' and I can get a bit protective about 'my' territory. The only thing he's not good at is ironing but he knows that if you put stuff in the tumbledryer for 10 mins before you wear it you should be OK.

My man: Yes. Most of the time.

We split things for the most part. He goes to work five days a week, I work three and go to school three (some overlap so I have one day completely off). We share the cooking pretty much 50/50. I wash the dishes, he puts them away (we let them air-dry). I do the laundry, he vacuums. I clean the bathroom, he shovels snow and does the trash/compost (we don't have a lawn to mow - I do the gardening but don't consider it a chore ). We both sweep and mop whenever it seems to need it.

All I ask my husband to do is take out the trash and any handyman jobs that may pop up that I can't take care of.

I'm the only one there to do housework...so, I feel your pain, Mr. Sojiita.....
The wife used to do things on schedules, I tend to think about scrubbing the floor when my feet stick to it.....
I actually like to do dishes (but I hate to cook....), and don't mind laundry.....but I have three full bathrooms....3.....as in 3 sinks, 3 showers, 3 toilets.....I HATE to clean bathrooms.....I feel like a hotel maid sometimes.....

In our case, He makes coffee (which I praise highly) he loads the dishwasher,I unload (which I hate) I don't want him near the laundry.
He vaccums. HE PAYS BILLS. Now that is a chore for me-I think we sometimes lose sight of what men do or hold them to a high standard of perfection that is beyond their scope. Another thing: I have seen a lot of wives gripe and they never do one small thing: ask him ! For a specific thing-like-Would you be a sweetie and load the dishwasher? Then don't criticise him! So what if he put the butter dish in a different spot?
