Xmas outdoor decorating: When do you do it?
Ok so when do you put up your Xmas decorations outside? I have seen that some of the neighbors have had them up for a few weeks now! In fact driving around town I have seen nearly as much Xmas decorations up as Halloween decorations up. So when do you think it is the right time?
I usually wait until after Thanksgiving..but did not do anything for Halloween..so I think I will put some stuff up(not too much..restrained and tasteful) this week! way early for me.
There is one house I know of..where they NEVER take the Xmas stuff down! leave it up all year round!
Feel free to comment in a post!

I'm not a big fan of Xmas stuff, but any occasion for pretty lights! So I'll put up the orange lights for Halloween ...*is kind of embarrassed* and then leave them for awhile and then put winter ones in near Xmas time! because I like the purdy lights y'all..

When is your Thanksgiving again? I think I put mine up after American Thanksgiving, but pretty shortly after. Take them down maybe the second week of January. I just have a wreath and some lights though.

We put our tree up on Thanksgiving day or the day after. I don't do the yard shit!

I HATE how Xmas shit starts getting put out in the stores now way before even Halloween. It's goddamned ridiculous. I refuse to put out Xmas decorations before Thanksgiving. Most of the time I do it the first week of December, depending upon my schedule. This year I will probably do it on T'Giving wkend though (after Thanksgiving day though) because I am in my last semester at school (done mid Dec.) and I think that will be the only time I will have until then to decorate the house and yard like we like. We started doing 'the yard shit' after our son was born and it's gotten to be a bit of a tradition now. I've always done the house and had a tree.

We put up the tree on the day after Thanksgiving, and i do the yard the first decent, warm day we have. I may do it before, but I won't hit the light switch until after Thanksgiving.

We dont start that early in here, some shops at the begginig of December and the town lights around the second week.
I just put some lights at the balconies, and the tree a few days before Chrismas.I dont like plastic ones, and the smell of the pine is Xstmas for me.
They all go a week after New Year.

I put them out a couple of weeks before Christmas. I absolutely refuse to participate in Christmas six months before the fact! I used to always take them down New Year's Day, but my husband likes me to leave them up for at least another week, so I do.

Is putting up outside decorations say, the first week of November/this weekend too early really?(as in to look ridiculous early?) I have never done it this early and was planning too..not a whole lot anyway..but I do not want to look like a fool. Hell I hauled that shit out here so I feel like I should get the most out of it right?

We start the day after Thanksgiving. I like a lot of decorations and lights and want to enjoy it for at least a month.
I also hate the fact that they cram everything down your throat like school supplies in July, Halloween decorations right after that, and now Christmas decorations are out on Halloween.

My son makes me ... if it weren't for him, I might wait .. or never even put up the tree. Something about the boy laying there under the tree the first night it's up with the lights glittering in his eyes... *sighs*
