Default Barack and Michelle Obama buy $11.75 million seven-bedroom Martha's Vineyard Home

Pad fit for a president! Barack and Michelle Obama buy the $11.75 million seven-bedroom Martha's Vineyard home they fell in love with after renting it last summer

    • The 29-acre estate includes a 6,900sq ft house with seven bedrooms and nine bathrooms
    • Built in 2001, it also has a pool, chef's kitchen, outdoor fireplace, two guest wings, and a large sundeck
    • Last year, the Obamas sold their summer home on the island for $15 million, having spent seven out of eight summers there while Barack was President

The Obamas are likely celebrating as they have closed the deal on a massive seven-bedroom mansion on Martha's Vineyard.
The former President and First Lady received the keys to their new mega-home which occupies 29 acres of beachfront property.
The couple have been eyeing up the property since staying there last summer after it was put on the market by Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck.

Barack and Michelle Obama have reportedly bought a sprawling estate in Martha's Vineyard from Boston Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck

Outside the main house, there's 29 beachfront acres, a pool (pictured), chef's kitchen, outdoor fireplace, and two guest wings. Grousbeck had the property on the market for four years, first listing it in 2015 for $22.5 million

The home was on the market for $14.85 million, and features seven-bedrooms and nine bathrooms inside the 7,000sq ft main residence

The house was originally listed for $14,850,000 but TMZ reports the Obamas managed to obtain a huge discount and secured the 6,900sq ft home for $11.75 million.

The enormous property has a swimming pool, outdoor fire pit and vaulted ceilings.

The are also two wings which run from the main house which is perfect to host guests.

Outdoors, the land comes with its own private beach, a boathouse and has plenty of land if the Obama's were hoping to expand.

'It's a remarkable home on an absolutely gorgeous setting,' listing agent Tom Wallace previously said 'privacy is a key feature of the property.

You would feel clean just walking into this all-white bathroom... just one of nine to choose from in the mega-mansion

'It certainly has the capacity to expand to more of a compound. One could build two additional full-size properties if one wanted to create a generational meeting place' he added.

Their new home is on the edge of Edgartown Great Pond, with views of the Atlantic Ocean.

It features predominantly white interiors but is surrounded by emerald-green lawns.

Michelle and Barack will have a lot of space to relax, as the master bedroom opens up to a sundeck, while their daughters will have plenty of room to enjoy long summer breaks there.

Malia, 21, is currently studying at Harvard University, while Sasha, 18, has just Sidwell Friends School in Washington D.C.

The couple appeared to fall in love with the mansion last summer when they were renting it for their summer vacation.

Now, life can truly feel like a permanent holiday as the Presidential couple have now bought the home for themselves.

Last year, the Obamas sold their summer home on the island for $15 million. They are no strangers to the island having spent seven summers there while Barack was President.

The Obamas won't be the first Presidential family to buy up on the Massachusetts Island.

Jackie Kennedy-Onassis kept a home there until her death in 1994, and the summer resort was popular with the whole Kennedy dynasty.

It's a little sterile looking inside, but I think the layout, etc is beautiful. The views, all the windows... I'd take it.

Well, position is everything. It's a wonderful family heirloom. I wonder why they got a discount, though?

I love this. It's a bit too white, but I'm sure their stuff will make it look totally different. The living room with the beams and the kitchen are killer.

I'm guessing the discount came because the house was on the market for FOUR years! FOUR! That's a lifetime in real estate!

the location is amazing, the house itself is the typical mansion that's at least done in the style of the more traditional new england beach houses in the area

The pool really sucks, I can't believe how dinky it is. Other than that, I'd take it.

Carol Roth: Barack and Michelle Obama's $15 million house of hypocrisy

By Carol Roth | Fox News

Obamas looking to buy 29 acre Martha’s Vineyard estate

Michelle and Barack Obama’s bid to purchase a nearly $15-million dollar property appears to have been accepted. The Martha’s Vineyard estate sits close to a beach, has two guest wings, seven guest rooms, and measures out to be 6,900 square feet. They’ve rented the property over the summer and now seem ready to make it their own.

Former President Obama and the former first lady have reportedly made a bid of approximately $15 million on a home in Martha’s Vineyard. The 7,000 square-foot house comes with 29 acres and would likely be a summer home. The family is known to have spent quite a bit of time on the island over past summers.

Unlike President Trump, who earned his money before taking office, the Obamas have benefited handsomely from their time in the White House. President Obama only earned the standard $400,000 salary when he was in office, but after leaving, he and his wife Michelle acquired a joint book deal worth $65 million, high-priced speaking engagements and a deal with Netflix. Now they are rolling in dough.

As a capitalist, I am all in favor of people making as much money as they want and spending it how they please. However, this lavish new abode is quite a statement in hypocrisy from the former president, who spent his presidency demonizing everyone else's success.
OBAMAS PLACED AN OFFER ON 'MEGA-EXPENSIVE' ESTATE IN MARTHA'S VINEYARD: REPORT
From telling small-business owners they “didn’t build that” to the 2018 speech in which he said, "There’s only so much you can eat. There’s only so big a house you can have. There’s only so many nice trips you can take. I mean, it’s enough," the former president has spent his life spreading messages that disparage success.

As many of my Twitter followers have pointed out, he must not believe in the climate change his Democratic peers are pushing. If he did, he would believe his $15 million investment on the small island will be underwater — quite literally — in just over a decade.

The spending is perfectly aligned with the hypocrisy and envy that continues to permeate the Democratic party. Whether it is Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., with his multi-million dollar net worth and three homes or Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., who earned well into the six-figures teaching at Ivy League institutions, their definition of “too rich” seems to be one dollar more than whatever they happen to be worth at a given point in time.

Therein lies the rub. Too many in Democratic leadership peddle the politics of envy and victimhood to grab power, wealth and success for themselves. They indulge their followers in the lie that someone getting wealthy comes at someone else’s expense. While this is offensive, it is made worse by the fact that they do it specifically for their own gain, making the political class more powerful and the government more bloated all while damaging the concept of the American Dream.

I don’t begrudge the Obamas for getting a nice house — even though they "didn’t build that." But politicians need to stop saying one thing while doing another. Living in a fancy house is admirable, but living in a glass house is contemptible.

except obama never advocated for socialism or the elimination of personal wealth. he's an economic liberal, in the true sense of the word, not the way fox news understands it, which is is 'anything to the left of us is communism!'

as usual, the fox news crowd don't understand there's a whole spectrum between the unregulated capitalism they advocate for, and soviet style communism that doesn't allow for much personal accumulation of wealth. in fact, that spectrum includes economic liberalism, social democracy, etc... you know, the more moderate ideologies that aren't on either extreme of the political spectrum. no one is saying people can't be rich or make money, just that the rich have to pay taxes and be held accountable and yes, there should be a limit on the amount of power and money you can amass without accountability (i.e. billionaires like bezos, koch brothers, etc). also, ackowledging that privilege exists and that the vast majority of millionaires and billionaires aren't 'self-made' doesn't make a person a communist either, which is also something the fox idiots's little brains can't seem to process.
    fucking right-wing idiots.
