Default 130 Year Old Home For Sale in New Orleans

$2.375M Gets You Iconic 130 Year Old Second Empire Home

Way back in the 1880s, Second Empire architecture was a relatively commonplace part of the New Orleans landscape. This house was just one of two such homes built on the block in 1885, its counterpart at 623 Esplanade Ave built the year after. Built by Middlemiss and Murray, this two and a half story home features sweeping ceiling arches, intricate medallions, and tasteful crown molding throughout. The home was renovated just four years ago but still retains most of its old New Orleans charm. This five bedroom, three and a half bath house even includes space for two cars as well as a backyard patio. $2.375M gets you 4,316 square feet of what was once one of the most popular architectural styles in the city.

Toss out most of that decor and I'm so there.

Ugh, they have scrubbed ANY hint of history from that poor house and replaced it with the ugliest, most ostentatious decor they could find.

Not crazy about most of the interior design but LOVE the kitchen and bathroom. Very pretty from the outside.

I hate the decor, but I love the space and the city it is in.

I don't totally hate the faux Versailles decor and some pieces are lovely. There's just too much of it all. Love the upstairs front balcony/verandah.

toss everything in there with the exception of a few nice pieces that look like they're actually old and not just imitation antiques (some of the artwork, the chinese screen and a couple of mirrors), and i'll take it. the house itself is lovely.
