Default My deck renovation is complete!

I wanted to share because I am very excited for my new deck. I have been plotting/budgeting for this deck for YEARS. I sold one business and had some expendable cash, so it's finally complete!

The old deck was built in the late 70's, it had rotting wood, sagging, nails that popped up, built in bench that gave you splinters in your ass, it was about ready to fall down. So I did the maintenance free composite deck with white vinyl railing. It's quite massive. The plan is to put a hot tub on it, but I haven't gotten that far!

Here are some before and afters for you!

Awesome. I'm planning on doing a new deck sometime next year and the back of my house is similar. I might steal a pic to show the builder guy. I love the backyard access. Are you planning on storing or putting anything underneath the deck?

Very nice! You're so lucky to have all that outdoor space.

Wow, I'm jealous. That looks like a complete replacement rather than a renovation.

I still need to repaint/stain our deck before winter sets in, but I'm still spending all my spare time at my mom's house.

Very nice. My family in MD and our relatives in MO have awesome decks like this. We don't have anything like this out here in California. Just nasty crunchy brown lawns. I would spend more time outdoors if we had something this nice.

    deck looks great!

but i will say, if you do decide to put the hot tub on the deck, make sure your piers are sound enough to support the added weight. i know i am biased - our deck is 2+ storeys up and we had to have a seismic engineer design it (it's not fancy, just don't want it to crash during an earthquake). when i asked the engineer about a hot tub, it was a no go for us.
