    Default Private Residence in Maine

Maine residence by Bruce Norelius Studio reveals its age with a fading cedar facade

Cedar shingles typical to New England houses have gradually faded from warm beige to a soft greyish brown on the walls of this residence in Maine by Los Angeles office Bruce Norelius Studio.

Hm, Mr. Shinola loooves Maine. This place seems very un-Maine-like to me. I'm guessing it's a vacation home and that's why it seems so barren. ?

Hmm. Isn't Maine where Muder She Wrote took place. Too many murders up there. Course,I think it was Jessica.

I don't like how block-y and nondescript the house is outside. Not a fan of the inside, it's too blah. For instance, the lighting in the stairway ... I don't like the visible wires. Doesn't make it look rustic or anything, more commercial-y. And yeah, I agree, someone lurves Maine. LL Bean bags at the foot of the stairs? Meh. And those stools that are all askew at the front door have my OCD spinning. My husband's family lives in rural Maine. You're not a Mainer unless you have at least 4 junk cars in your yard and Tyvex wrapped around your house (no siding of any kind, just Tyvex).

In Maine you need a slant on your roof to keep the snow from piling during winter months. And cedar shingles only work on cape style homes, not boxy moderns designed by someone from LA.
