Train Depot in Rural Connecticut Transformed into Welcoming Modern Home

A tiny local train depot in rural Connecticut, USA was completely reinvented by the creative team at Gray Organschi Architecture. The resulting Depot House is original looking and quite welcoming. We found out the studio saved and reinforced the existing 19th century foundation, cutting the costs of the new building. Two wooden volumes-reminiscent of neighboring barns- create space for a large open plan between them and hint towards the regionís agricultural heritage.

Love most of it. Those giant globe lights over the kitchen table are way too big, and the open fireplace would have to be closed in immediately. Looks too dangerous.

I like parts of it, even though it's totally not my style.

Exactly. They're all you can see from the exterior photo.
