Default Small Home with an Iron Staircase in Milan

House with an iron staircase by Roberto Murgia and Valentina Ravara

An iron staircase reminiscent of structural trusses connects the two floors of this house in Milan by Italian architects Roberto Murgia and Valentina Ravara.
The architects renovated a small property in Milan's Isola district to create themselves a simple residence with an open-plan living room on the ground floor and a bedroom above.
The iron staircase was installed along one wall, and features a zig-zagging framework, pipe-shaped balustrades and open risers that allow views through.

cool space. love the stairs. the bedroom should be so much nicer though, that bed sucks and so does that ugly office chair next to it and that red and white painting.

Is that "bannister" upstairs open or covered with glass? If it's open, I would be the lucky bastard to fall through those huge openings in the middle of the night (or day, come to think of it).

ok - i must admit i noticed the stairs were not so safe so this would not be a great space for someone with little kids or a habitual drunk. but i do think it's a cool place. but i hate that sign/painting in the bedroom, it looks like a visual acuity chart.

It looks like they went out of their way to make sure not a single thing might accidentaly match.

I know! That would be my second concern.

Closely followed by the trees crashing through the windows.

I like the look of the stairs but would hate using them. The rest of the house, as usual in photoshoots, lacks any personality or signs of actually being lived in.

Nice cooking equipment in that kitchen, but no counterspace whatsoever. Dull house in general.

Oh, there's a whole list of other fears, not in the least a location in Repug/Teabagger territory. The place could be the most magnificent ever designed, but it would give me the shivers.

I love everything about the lower floor. Upstairs just needs different decor.

The kitchen reminds me of a daycare kitchen somehow.

yeah the kitchen tile/backsplash thing is cool now but after a while I'd probably be over it and grow to hate it and it's not like it's just a tablecloth you can just throw out.

Perhaps only if a time machine existed and his mid 1960's to mid 1980's version lived there. I'm so shallow that way.
