    Default Hacienda Sac Chich

Hacienda Sac Chich by Reyes Ríos + Larraín Arquitectos

Located in Acanceh – home to an ancient Mayan archaeological site – in Yucatan, Mexico, Hacienda Sac Chich was constructed by Reyes Ríos + Larraín Arquitectos in 2010. The home blurs the boundaries between ‘indoors’ and ‘outdoors’ by the use of openings which lead straight outside from bedrooms and living rooms; added to this earthy effect is the fact that much of the furniture is sculpted straight from the stone that makes up the house.

That master bed is SO practical. You'd never crack your shins getting in/out at 3am after a bathroom visit.

yeah the huge platform bed sucks as does the beige wash on all the walls but architecturally speaking, it's a pretty sexy house.

I shouldn't like this, but I really do. I'd add lots more "stuff" and make it homey, but this looks open, light and big.

some aspects/concepts are dead sexy and some are just impractical.. I'd have to take a chisel to that damn bed and chip away MOST of that platform.

only the middle living room part is open and if you notice, there are recessed sliding doors on the sides so in case of bad weather, it can be closed up. same thing in the bedrooms.

I think parts of it are pretty cool, but the beds, I'd kill myself getting in and out of that mess.

I'd have trouble getting in and out of that bed. The wash on the walls and ceiling are excessive, I like the feel of the house.

Oh good. I was wondering about safety. It's so open, strangers could just walk in willy-nilly. Glad to know it can be closed.
