Default A barn turned home in The Netherlands

This lovely old farmhouse the Dutch village of Spannum belongs to textile designer Claudy Jongstra. It is in this home and studio where Claudy works with local weavers, creating fabric from the wool produced by her own flock of sheep. Claudy then colours the hand woven fabric using dyes created from the plants in her garden. The decor of the home is rustic and slightly traditional but with a modern feel to it. The use of wood creates a warm and cosy atmosphere.

Why don't these places ever have any artwork on the walls to add some character and warmth.

If they paid for my trip there I would stay in the house, but I hate the interior.

I only like the ceilings. I hate barns converted into houses, and I hate Dutch Colonial houses, because they look like barns.

I like the space, but I don't really care for their furniture or the way they've decorated it.

I'll have the cat and that's it. The fireplace and some of the floors look unfinished and the rest is too impersonal.
