I'd snap this up in a heartbeat and I don't even like water. Being on it, anyway. Or in it, lol. That first pic, I believe that's Angel Island beyond the marina. The houseboat's situated on Richardson Bay, a little inlet on the inner/Bay coastline of Marin County. Across the water on the peninsula are Tiburon and Belvedere. All this boat needs is a hot tub! and some weed, okay.
Restored Sausalito houseboat with decks, views - SFGate
Address: 25 South 40 Pier Dock, Sausalito.
Asking price: $1.55 million.
Description: Once owned by San Francisco Chronicle cartoonist Phil Frank, this houseboat dates to the 19th century and was restored after being found in a Corte Madera creek. Renowned architect Sim Van der Ryn installed bamboo floors and new interior siding when he renovated the houseboat in 1998, while retaining the exterior siding and detailing from its original construction. A concrete hull enabled the addition of a sitting room and master suite downstairs, while the upper level features public rooms and stained-glass windows in the kitchen. The houseboat includes decks at the front and back, as well as a floating dock for launching kayaks and other watercraft.
Don't miss: The detailing on the exterior siding boards dates back to the late 1800s. The harbor and marina can be seen from throughout the houseboat.
Built: 1892, restored in 1984 and 1998.
Size: 2,000 square feet.
