    Default A Democracy of Style

In Minneapolis, letting the children have their way with decorating.

The wall covering in the family room was the first thing Elizabeth Foy Larsen chose for the home. The pillows and bench are from Target. Darwin, the labradoodle, demonstrates why an expensive couch wasn’t an option

First of all, put some socks on. Secondly, every picture on that one wall is crooked and it's annoying as hell.

I don't really like this at all, but I love the wallpaper in the dining room, the built-in book cases in the study, and the pillowcovers in that icky orange room.

The other thing that made me laugh was this.

This is how my friends and I give each other plants to start in their houses, by throwing them in the first jar we can find. Especially jade plant. I didn't realize it was an artistic interior design trick. It usually gets replanted into something else, but maybe that's just me, I didn't know I should be using it to weight down my my impressive coffee table tomes.

I like some elements of it, like the windows and all the natural lighting, the slatted headboard, and some of the artwork. The fake deerhead would be the first thing to go.

I actually really like most of this, especially the deer head and the yellow accents in the study. The main thing I'm not loving are those swivvely orange dining chairs, they're not nice, but most of the rest of it is nice. Darwin is gorgeous, I want him!

So, your kids are bland and ordinary, and you took the shopping for curtains in Ikea? No need to advertise that, I think.

I love a lot about this - the wall paper choices are perfect. The yellow backing to those bookshelves is an idea worth stealing. Their art is great.

Still, it looks like the family made an Ikea run right before the photographers showed up.

So the kids got to paint their own rooms. BFD. Betcha mom made sure everything matched the rest of the house.

The library shelves are really the only great thing about this house. I live for that pop of bright yellow.

I really like parts of this. I love the wallpaper in the dining room but the white table and chairs kill it for me - it would have looked better with some natural wood. Overall I'm not impressed with their furniture choices and I hate the coloured walls and the curtains with the leaf print are fug too.
