Default Extremely Comfy Man-Chairs That Aren't Uglay?

I'm trying to find very comfortable, large armchairs that, preferably, don't resemble overstuffed La-Z-Boys. Reclining would be good (though that usually adds to the uglay). They're for hubby. I'm willing to go leather as they might be easier to keep kid-proof.

I'm looking on my local Kijiji and will check out the furniture stores but I thought someone might have an idea of what I'm after and could point me in the right direction. Thanks!

there's no such thing. if you have a basement, put the ugly chair down there with a tv so at least you don't have to look at it.
that, or just tell your husband that it's either you, or the ugly chair. his choice.

    Gah!

Okay, apparently, there are chairs like this which are actually recliners (and you can get just about any fabric), but I don't know that something like that would be big enough.

Sput, the basement is unfinished, and we're thinking of re-jigging the living room and sunroom and putting two comfy chairs in there somewhere. I wouldn't mind one as well, I just want it to look cute and current. *weeps openly*

I have den furniture that I'm not a huge fan of because of my husband. But the fucking bedroom and bathroom are my choice. And the kitchen. So I can live with it.

that one you linked to isn't too offensive. i'd make a tv 'nook' that's sort of apart from the actual living room, and put the 2 chairs and the tv in there. and maybe hide it behind a movable screen or an open shelf or something like that.
does it have to be big chairs though? it can't be a comfy but still cute couch? maybe with some cute ottomans you can prop your feet on?

That's the general idea, the TV and associated seating will be in the wee sunroom. There's a loveseat in there now, but he's finding it increasingly uncomfortable. He's 6'3", it's somewhat justified. So we can move the loveseat into the living room and then introduce something new to the sunroom. I'd rather not just buy a second, different loveseat (we already have a large couch as well), as I think chairs will open up more options for future configurations. The TV's definitely not the focus of that room aesthetically, but in practical terms it's about all we use the room for (reading, too, but then the same comfort issues apply).

The chairs themselves don't have to be big, but they need to be accommodating to a big guy - broad shoulders, long legs and so forth, and the "mini" recliners seldom seem to cut it. The LaZBoy website is... ugh... there are a few half-decent options but then there's apparently no store nearby in which to try them out. I'll keep looking, thanks!

We had them and they were ugly, but we did the best we could with them. Nice dark brown distressed leather. Truth is, as ugly as they are, they were so comfy to curl up in and watch a movie or read a book.

Yes... I'm thinking I just need to surrender to the ugly and the leather...

Get the uglay chair, throw a tasteful slipcover over it if possible. Make a man-cave in the basement, you never have to see it.
