    Default Trading Wasted Space

Determined to have a house without wasted space, a Raleigh, N.C., family traded their 3,200-square-foot place for a 1,200-square-foot ranch house.

I'd constantly pretend I was on Mad Men if I lived here. I'm not really sure I get the "wasted space" issue. Do they mean so they have less house and more nature around them? Anyway, this house is completely devoid of personal belongings which is a great way to save space. It looks like no one actually lives there.

I looove that deck and how the living room opens up to it. I wish the window frames were less bombastic. They take away the light feeling of the indoor-outdoor concept.
I guess the "wasted space" refers to a lot of traditional houses wasting space on hall ways, stairs etc. Also kitchen and living room would have to be bigger if they were individual romms, but it's not very clear from the pictures.

I have a feeling that I like my wasted space. LOL I like walls and stairs and doors. I wonder what the house they knocked down looked like.

I hate the kitchen backsplash, and the decor is boring as hell.

I like the house, I dislike how they decorated it. The need to mix in some personal touches.

I can't stand this. It looks cheaply made and the furnishings are tacky and ugly. Ugh.

    Hee! Nice description.

I'd like it on a bigger lot or with landscaping that encouraged good views. This house doesn't work in suburbia, where all those windows look out onto fences and straight into the windows of other houses.

Cooling that house in the summer is going to be a bitch. Too bad there are no shade trees to protect that slab of black roof. Those pine trees look half dead, too.

And those chairs and stools, nice statement, completely uncomfortable.

That roof would be fantastic for solar panels.
