Default In Yucatán, a Home for Two Travel Writers

Emma Sloley and Adam McCulloch, travel writers, bought a house in the historic center of Mérida, the capital of the Mexican state of Yucatán, “where American and Canadian expats are buying up all these houses and restoring them,” Ms. Sloley said.

I am too horrified by the tiny closet space to notice the rest.

Yeah, I'd like a shower curtain. And an exhaust fan to protect the linens from the steam.

The shower lookes mildew-y. Why is there a puddle of water? Clean that shit up before you take a picture.

I hate when the shower/bathroom area is basically in the bedroom. Those need to be seperate rooms.

They featured that town on House Hunters a month or so ago. All three of the homes were 100+ years old. One was essentially a 400 year old ruin that they were trying to bill as a home.

I love it, too. Plus, it's in Yucatan.

    ^^Yup.

I like this a lot, though some modifications would have to be made. Funny--about 20 years ago a woman I used to work with took a trip to Mexico. She visited Merida and spent quite a bit of time in the Yucatan. She raved about the area when she got back--I still remember the amazing snapshots. She said we should all move to Merida, it was gorgeous, friendly, cheap and mellow. Guess she was a trendsetter. Oh, she also said that the jewelry you could buy there was incredible and based on what she brought home and what it cost (like, nothing) I would agree.

As they are travel writers I would have expected more personal touches in the form of things they have picked up from all over. There's bits and bobs from all over the world at my 'other home' and it makes for a nice eclectic mix. This place was just disappointingly dull.

At first, I thought the rug in the bedroom was a giant drain for overflow from the shower, lol! Anyway, I love this place. Of course, I'd take down the "REIK" but with a couple of minor changes, it completely kicks ass!
