Default A Modernist House in Los Angeles

Patricia Marks’s midcentury house is a few doors down from her daughter’s family, and her granddaughters Nico and Lily Kachikis, 9 and 11, bring a rejuvenating presence to the home.

Looks like a McDonaldland play area.

I'm guessing granny is losing her eyesight: this hideously colored thing is the worst eyesore I've seen in ages.

I've got friends who are midcentury architecture buffs--I'm not, really--but as a result I've been through quite a few houses from that era. Almost every single one had a shitty little dark kitchen. I guess those architects just thought food magically appears on the table, like Betty Crocker goes *poof* and there it is.

The color scheme is HORRIBLE and I hate the break-neck bedroom. But some of the furniture is cool, the view's amazing and it's definitely not a boring place to live.

Reminds me a bit of the incredible fake house in "North By Northwest" except that had much better decor.

I loved that house!(the NbyNW one)

This one, well..I don't hate it like I thought I would, and if it was toned down just a bit and tweaked some(as in why no cabinets, shelves, etc. in the kitchen..really do they just order out every damn day?) I would kinda like it.

I like that an older person is going with something so youthful and is probably thinking of her grandkids, bless her heart.

but..what is that up the stairs?-a bed right by that non-existant railing? One or two nights sleeping on that max and then I would roll out and over the damn edge! I hope anyone sleeping their sleeps like a damned rock.

it is like danger!!! is the new black! ?
