Default Pink mansion of late cosmetics queen Mary Kay Ash goes on sale for $3.3m

Had its proportions been more miniature, one might imagine it was the residence of Barbie and Ken.
But a vast pale pink mansion that went on sale in Dallas, Texas, this week was actually once the home of the late, great cosmetics entrepreneur Mary Kay Ash.
The 11,874sq ft property, which was built in 1984, has been put on the market at $3.3million. It is a significantly lower figure than the $5.7million price tag it failed to sell at in 2007.

Lavish: The former home of Mary Kay Ash, which has gone on the market for $3.3m, has a pale pink exterior

Realtor.com notes that it is one of the city's most distinctive homes and a symbol of the success of the Mary Kay empire, which continues to enjoy annual sales of over $2billon.
It has six bedrooms and eight bathrooms, and boasts soaring 40ft ceilings, bevelled glass windows and teak and marble floors.

A central courtyard features a neo-classical-style swimming pool, while landscaped gardens - complete with terraced lawns and fountains - fill the rest of the just-over-one-acre plot.
Though Ash, who died in 2001, had not lived there since the Nineties, many of her signature touches remain.
Among the features prospective buyers can expect to enjoy are a pink bathtub and a decadent pink quartz toilet, while murals adorn the walls in the living areas.

Passion for pink: Mary Kay Ash, who died in 2001

The interior of the mansion has been decorated in what might be akin to her style too.
The upholstery of the furniture is all in the same deep rose hue, and the walls of the kitchen, like the exterior, are pale pink. Even the rugs have hints of pink and purple in them.
Ash, who died in 2001 at the age of 83, founded the Mary Kay cosmetics company after she was passed over for a promotion in favour of a man who she herself had trained.
With an investment of $5,000, she formulated a business plan, and opened her first store in September 1963.
It rapidly grew into a multi-million dollar business, which she ran with the support of her son, Richard Rogers until she suffered a stroke in 1996.
Her success made her such an important figurehead for women in business, she appeared on CBS's 60 Minutes in 1979 and received countless awards.

Ash was well known for her love of the colour pink, which features in the packaging of Mary Kay products to this day.
She famously drove a pink Cadillac, custom-painted to match her company branding.
Unfortunately for the future owner of the property, though, their own co-ordinating car will cost extra.

Bargain: The $3.3million price tag is significantly lower than the $5.7million figure it failed to sell at in 2007

Slap a coat of paint on this baby and I could live here. It's very much like what I envision a real mansion being like.
Love the huge entry way and those windows are awesome. New furnishings will be in order for sure, but I like this joint.

I have actually been in this barn. Dallas house tour some years back. Her bedroom was two story, for what reason I do not know. By that I mean, the main section was sky high, like some atrium and the one wall had a stair case leading up to who knows what. It would have been like sleeping in a giants house. Not inviting.

Yeah, this. It's Mary Kay, y'all weren't expecting a modest hovel from her now would you? The house is garish, tacky, excessive, over-the-top, and so Dallas.

The Headquarters for the company are equally as garish and over-the-top for a corporate office park building, but totally befitting for the company and its founder.

This was Mary Kay's office at her Company HQ in Dallas:
