Keeping it in the family: Jenny Craig has sold her lavish Santa Fe mansion to her daughter
When Jenny Craig waves goodbye to the mansion in Rancho, Santa Fe, that she's selling, it won't have to be for good.
The weight-loss guru has sold the luxurious estate to her very own daughter, Michelle, and son-in-law Duayne Weinger, for a bargain $6.1million.
Last December the palatial residence, that sits on 3.4 acres of land, was listed for almost $9million, meaning that Mrs Weinger and her husband have enjoyed a very generous family discount of $3million.
The sprawling 10,000-square-foot property is located roughly 30 miles from downtown San Diego towards the north.
Living up to her name as a healthy-living expert, Mrs Craig's former home boasts an expansive, fully equipped gym, tennis courts, a spa and a pool.
The property, which she purchased with her late husband, Sidney, in 1997, also features an 11-car garage built by the couple.
But the decor in the photos published by Realtor.com is unlikely to stay that way.
Mrs Weigner and her husband plan to renovate the four bedroom, four bathroom property.
One thing that will not change is the impressive surrounding landscape. The couple will enjoy views as far as the Pacific Ocean from every room.
And if they plan on having family and friends to stay, they will be able to accommodate more people in the two-bedroom guest house.
The Jenny Craig empire, which was founded by Mrs Craig and her husband in 1983, has become a multi-million dollar business that was sold in 2006 to Nestlé for $600m.
It now has 700 outposts across the globe, including the U.S., Australia, the UK and France, and has had celebrity endorsement from Monica Lewinsky and Kirstie Alley.
More recently the company has worked with Queen Latifah and Sara Rue, though its latest celebrity spokesmodel was Carrie Fisher, who has dropped pounds following the programme.
Much of Mrs Craig's time is now spent investing in philanthropic projects including the San Diego Hospice, Easter Seals, United Way/CHAD, the Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and Peace At Home, a domestic violence prevention programme.
The weight-loss entrepreneur is also hoping to sell another property in the upmarket neighbourhood.
Her 229-acre equestrian estate, once owned by Gene Klein, remains on the market for $25million.
