Default Joshua Tree shack turned into a weekend retreat

Steve Halterman and Glenn Steigelman turned a 1950s high desert shack into a weekend retreat, complete with a steel water-tank pool set amid boulders and an interior design that built on vintage Midcentury style.

The outside is okay. The inside looks like my parent's basement back in the 70's, and that's not a good thing.

The world would be a much uglier place without gay men, that's for sure.

i kinda love it. i don't like a lot of the individual pieces (especially in the artwork) but it all just works for what it is - a chic desert 'shack' for weekends.

The outdoor/open air aspects and the pool kick so much ass. I had hoped for so much better inside, but it looks more 70s than midcentury with all the wood paneling, low ceilings, and dark colors.

Ugh, wood paneling? Really? And a green naugahyde couch. Charming.
