Default Thank you, Daddy. Petra Ecclestone buys Candy Spelling's mansion for 85 million

Petra Ecclestone reportedly buys Spelling estate for $85 million

Petra Ecclestone, a 22-year-old British heiress, has reportedly bought Candy Spelling's Holmby Hills estate, the most expensive residential listing in the United States.

"The Manor," as the late TV producer Aaron Spelling's 56,500-square-foot home is known, has been on the market at $150 million for more than two years, according to reports Tuesday.

Though Candy had held firm on the asking price over the years, sources told TMZ the place went into escrow at $85 million. Now do we all believe housing prices have declined more steeply than during the Great Depression?

The daughter of British Formula One exec Bernie Ecclestone, whose worth is estimated at $4 billion, is a sometime fashion designer. The Spelling joint was reportedly her second-choice mansion, poor thing.

The house, which is larger than the White House and believed to have more than 100 rooms, has features including a bowling alley, a flower-cutting room, a wine cellar/tasting room, a barbershop and a silver storage room.

Outside are a tennis court, a koi pond, gardens, a citrus orchard and a swimming pool with a pool house.

More than 100 vehicles can be accomodated in the motor court and 16 carports, and a service wing houses the staff in five maids' bedrooms and two butlers' suites, the Los Angeles Times reported in 2009.

Aaron Spelling -- executive producer on series including "The Love Boat," "Dynasty" and most recently "Charmed" -- died in June 2006. Daughter Tori Spelling and her brother Randy Spelling each inherited less than $1 million at the time from the estate, then estimated to be worth $300 million. Tori is now pregnant with her third child.

Ecclestone plans to split her time between L.A. and London, where she owns another mansion, according to the Guardian.

Why does one person need that much space? Even if money were not an issue, I would not want a house that big.

Waste of money. What does a 22-year-old need with a 100-room house that she won't live in full time?

Don't see why she'd buy that! I guess because she (daddy) can!

Wouldn't it be fun if she'd tear it down and build something else there, just because she can?

New Owner of Candy's House Got Money from Mommy

7/17/2011 12:55 AM PDT by TMZ Staff

The 22-year-old woman who paid $85 million for Candy Spelling's estate took out an $82,434,060.42 loan -- from her mother!

TMZ has obtained the deed of trust -- filed with the Los Angeles County Recorder's office -- which shows Petra Ecclestone became the proud owner of Candy's 57,000 square foot mansion on Thursday.

The docs show Petra borrowed all but $2,565,940 (our calculator ran out of numbers for the cents) from Slavica Ecclestone, her mom.

Slavica is flush with cash, because her ex-husband Bernie is a billionaire Formula One mogul and she did well in the divorce settlement.

The good news for Petra -- she won't have to borrow much more from her mom, because sources tell us she's only going to make cosmetic changes to the mansion, leaving the bones in tact.

    Thank you Mommy Slavica.

I read on another site that the renovation has already begun...in less than a few weeks she already has a demolition team stripping the house of the carpet, tile, marble and other fixtures...can't wait to see the Architectural Digest spread when she is done with it!

She should turn it into a B&B using themes from Asron's shows.
