Default In Switzerland, Minimalism and Industrialism

Andreas Meichsner for The New York Times
The pitched terra-cotta-tile roof and beige plaster exterior, unchanged for nearly three decades, belies the massive first-floor overhaul to the Ratibor and Nada Hadzimanovics’ 4,500-square-foot, three-floor house. It was bought in 1982 for $400,000.

Andreas Meichsner for The New York Times
The industrial-looking first-floor bathroom has a toilet centered in the middle with exposed pipes, a ceiling and walls fashioned out of cork, and in place of traditional shower handles, green and red hose valves bought from a hardware store.

boring exterior. fabulous interior. except for that bedroom in the last picture. wtf?! it looks like a radisson or something and doesn't mesh with the rest of the house.
don't like the oriental rug in the last sitting room pic either, it doesn't suit the space.

Odd comment but, I think that is the coolest stairway railing I have ever seen. I think the bathroom is a cool idea but, I would like more finishes. Love the kitchem cabinets. I agree, that last bedroom with the foofy curtains doesn't go with the rest of the house. Ran out of money with 1 room to go?

This is a big "NO" for me. Wanted to like it (it's Switzerland!!!), but it could have been done better.

This pretty setting and a house void of personality? Flavorless.

They have a lot of nice pieces, but again it's all trying so hard.

    That kitchen is lush.

    That living room is stupid.

    The last bedroom is wtf.

WTF - is that giant pipe coming out of the ceiling supposed to be the shower? What a horrible bathroom.

OMG! That bathroom is awful. The rest I could live with thought with a few tweaks to the bedroom.

I'd take it and consider it to be the bare bones of what it could be. It needs a major injection of personality. And the first thing I'd do would be to burn that giant rat skin rug. Ick!
