Default Not a Bird or a Plane, but Home

Andreas Meichsner for The New York Times
Pavel and Renata Horak are owners of a glass-and-steel house in the fanciful shape of a bird at the base of the Beskydy Mountains in the Czech Republic. The wings, which shade the house in summer, are equipped with an electric snow-melting heating system.

Andreas Meichsner for The New York Times
The seawater tank in the basement, with fish imported from all over the world, was the home’s “biggest technical challenge,” according to the architect, Roman Kuba. In the “relaxation room,” the fish are the primary focus but the couple can also watch television -- one of five sets in the house -- and listen to music.

Andreas Meichsner for The New York Times
The tennis court transforms into an ice-skating rink in winter.

Wouldn't want to have to keep all that glass clean...whoa.

And while I'm not a fan of the wingish exterior, I am kinda digging the interior. Especially the aquarium and pool. And the stairs. Not the kitchen so much, but overall, quite nice.

Not sure I could afford the upkeep on this baby, but would be willing to try.

My gawd, I love the indoor pool. And the aquarium, but not the weird viewing chairs. That bathroom looks down right slippery dangerous. You'd have to have rugs or mats every where to make it from the shower alive.

Love the built-in aquarium and for some reason, I really like the kitchen. Not so much the rest of it.

I really dig it, actually! Very bright and airy. Decor not perfect, but easily fixable. My main complaint would be that it's kind of in the middle of nowhere.
