Default Padma Lakshmi interested in $10m NYC apartment

She is currently embroiled in a bitter battle with a former boyfriend over custody of her 11-month-old daughter Krishna.
But that doesn't seem to have distracted Padma Lakshmi from focussing on other things - namely looking for a brand new home in New York.
The 40-year-old Top Chef host is said to be particularly keen on a $10 million historic loft in the trendy neighbourhood of Greenwich Village.

Boasting five bedrooms, a study, dining room, kitchen and laundry area, the 4,535 square foot apartment is on the market for a cool $10.9 million.
Padma has been seen recently checking out an number of downtown residences in the city, according to the New York Post.
However, she is said to be interested in the apartment which was built in 1904 and was originally a department store.
The 12-story apartment building includes a doorman, concierge, and basement storage.
Along with a modern kitchen, the expansive lounge area features herringbone floors, high ceilings, a dramatic fireplace and large windows.
Padma, who was married to author Salman Rushdie from 2004 - 2007, already owns a $1.6 million loft in the city's East Village, but is clearly looking to upgrade.

Historic: Padma's potential new home is situated in New York's Greenwich Village neighbourhood

Mod cons: The loft-style apartment features a modern kitchen and five bedrooms

That space could be REALLY cool. Look at the gorgeous art deco detailing. Just rip out all the froo froo frilly garbage (frilly mirrrors, hideous chandeliers) and you could have a seriously swank space.

Now here is a single mother with a decent budget! Great space, but those dreadful candle holding angels must go, not before that horrid gold trash mirror ruining the fireplace.
Kinda like the glitzy chanderlier over the dining table. Just a dash of foo foo won't hurt.

Nah, if you're going to have an art deco space the chandelier should reflect the period.. not be some tacky monstrosity

She is looking for a lair, not somewhere where her child can play.

so if you have kids your entire place should be a playground? i think with over 4000 square feet there is enough room for her kid to have its own designated areas to play in.

i'd keep them. there's something funny, almost absurd, about those two statues... kinda like relics of bad decorating or so.

^ This. Everything's gotta go. It looks like it was ripped from a Renaissance period museum.

The decor is horrible, but the place itself is beautiful.
