Consider the whimsy that frames the hearth in David Edward Byrd and Jolino Beserra's 1928 Spanish bungalow. Clothed in broken ceramics and found and treasured objects, the fireplace resembles an outsize toy. The swirled mosaic pattern and jumble of shiny fun make one suspect it's crowded with spirits.

Even for a colour whore like me it's a little too much but I do like the broken crockery splashback in the kitchen.

I like everything except the fireplace. The back splash in the kitchen is amazing.

Well, that was a complete assault on several senses all at once. The tile itself is beautiful, it's just too too much and ends up looking tacky.

I love colorful tile, but all those kewpie dolls and stuff sticking out of it.....not so much. It's like a bad acid trip or something.

oooh I love it. It really is well done too, it's all even, not sloppy. I'd live there in a heartbeat.

Just looked again and the blue bath tiles don't look even. I'd redo those.
