Default A house near Taos, New Mexico

Albuquerque-based architect Antoine Predock designed a modern, 4,030-square-foot house on a 1,200-acre cattle ranch near Taos, New Mexico, for a family of five. A sharply angled volume at the center of the house “departs from the horizontal,” he notes.

Cool house, but I SO wouldn't want to live in the desert.

i like it better from a distance (first picture) than up close (second picture) but it's pretty cool. and the setting is incredible. the interior totally lacks character and style but that would be easy to fix.

love the location and the view, but the house looks like a strip mall.

It is a little stark looking from the outside, being surrounded by no trees or shrubs really...just sitting in the desert. They could do something with that to 'connect' it more to the surroundings.

Inside, it is like a small office building.

It needs 'personality' both inside and out, but the 'bones' and spaces themselves seem ok.

Yeah, it looks kind of institutional in the outside, a total lack of character. Like how we build public schools or prisons (the state probably uses the same builder and architects for both). I hate the all concrete block with boring windows and plain metal reinforcements look, there's something depressing and kind of soviet bloc about them.

You would never think it was a residential structure, right? It does look like a small office building, school, etc. One would never think it was a single family home. I agree-Very insitutional looking.

    * it looks like it could be a small isolated rehab facility.

I love it - very minimalistic. This kind of architecture makes me feel peaceful. There is a total lack of chaos that I love.

    It looks very serene...

They should make it into a rehab center for GR so when one of us loses our shit, we can go there to get our minds back!

Not really sold on the overall design of the house, although the interior has some potential. Plus it's too remote.
