Default A Family Compound in the Rocky Mountains

“Fly-fishing is the main activity on the river,” remarks New York designer William Sofield, who combined ancient stone from China with a western aesthetic for his clients’ 6,500-square-foot ranch house, situated on pristine, rugged acreage high in the central Colorado Rockies.

    Guest Cabins
The “caboose” guesthouse bears an antique sign announcing Goods, in reference to the sundries stocked in the foyerbath products, postcards, first aid supplies, soda pop and candy available to guests of the ranch.

    That bed looks horribly uncomfortable.

This place is nice, for a weekend retreat.

OMIGOSH! I fell in love with it before I even peeked at the first picture inside. The view and what's outside totally makes up for anything lacking on the inside!

Looks smaller than 6500 square feet.

And Rocky Mountain streams are known for their propensity for flash floods. That thing is nearly at the same level as that stream-right in the flood plain.

Bear Creek, and Big Thompson Canyon Colorado waiting to happen.

Dump everything inside and start over. The house itself is great.

Strip it down and burn everything in the interior. Hate it.

Love it all, and would do weekends there for sure. I would add color though. Too much beige everywhere. And there must be a hot tub for those starry starry nights. It must be pitch black dark there. The sky must look amazing at night.

Great looking place for a vacation spot, both the home & the surrounding area.

Can't stand "rustic" stone/wood shit. But then again it does suit the location and purpose.

you're always worried about natural disasters. did you get stuck in a tornado as a kid or something?

i like the house itself but all the furniture needs to die in a fire except maybe that stone/slab bed. that's pretty cool.
