Default A modern house in Santa Monica

    King

( Glenn Koenig / Los Angeles Times ) John Friedman Alice Kimm Architects' King house is a striking residence in the Sunset Park neighborhood of Santa Monica. The green and white exterior pattern is designed to mimic the dappled light coming through trees. More important, the architects placed the four-bedroom, four-bath house toward the back of the lot, not only creating a large yard in front but also exposing the heart of the L-shaped home to the neighborhood. “That really confuses people,” Erin says. “People come over and ask, ‘Why did your architects take away your backyard?’ ” For the Kings, the design takes little away. Rather, it gives them a front porch — a patio, actually, that functions as a modern interpretation of the traditional porch

Hate it (surprise, surprise.) The wood floors look nice though.

I would spend all my time trying to straighten out these walls/facades. Ugh.

Also, they have no sense of colors. Awful.

Horrible. Just by looking at the exterior you can pretty much tell the interior is going to suck.

Throw poop bags at the front of that house and then run away!

The interior isn't bad, but the two-tone green and white exterior makes it look as if the paint is peeling or the siding is coming off.

Agree with king here - that green and white shit is great if you're at Michigan State, but otherwise - hell no.

i like it. the decor is a little generic but it wouldn't take a lot of changes to make it more interesting. i really like the interior architecture too and the floors are awesome.

Bulldoze it into the ocean and hope the currents carry the wreckage far, far away.

Maybe if I had 100 kids.

Then the hideous green and white that looks more like a shitty paint job than art, has to go.

    The puppy stays.

Don't like the exterior, not wild about the interior(could use some color) and really hate the puke green/white on the outside of the house.

An alien took a dump on their patio.

Or left a giant green M&M.
