Default A house that keeps watch over Hermosa Beach

A designer's childhood memories of lifeguard towers on the Jersey shore are evident in a new custom home.

Inspired by East Coast lifeguard towers, this home at 3002 Hermosa Ave., inHermosa Beach, has 3,600 square feet of living space. (Laura Hull)

I love the inside, the outside not as much.

    I think it's cool.

fug. but i mostly really hate the interior. it's very dated looking, like bad early 90s or something.

I dunno. The view is somewhat nice. That bathroom looks like one in a store. Not for me.

A little too white inside, but surprisingly, I like it.

I'd feel exposed that close to the beach with so many people walking by.

View is amazing, but the eating area looks like a diner and the bathroom looks like it belongs in a dorm. No thanks.

I like the bedroom windows - so much light in the room but plenty of privacy as well. I'm also awarding bonus points for having a couch that looks as if you could sprawl on it comfortably instead of something incredibly arty looking but hard on the arse.

really? i wouldn't want to sleep in a room where i can't look out the windows.
i once rented a studio apartment for a month and while the studio itself was cute, it was on an attic floor and it had slanted ceilings and the only windows were skylights. sure they were huge but they were right above my head so i couldn't look out and all i could see was sky. it's not a nice feeling.
it's fine if it's just one room in your house, like a tv room or something but not for a bedroom.

*looks out of own windows. Glances over the battlezone known as the neighbourhood and watches as the local chavs drunkenly lean on each others gate posts while they shout innuendo at a chavette coming back from the off license in her pink snoopy PJs*

Yes, I think I could live without being able to see out of the windows, so long as I got plenty of natural light coming in! Soundproofing would be great too!

The outside is fugly as hell. The inside is okay, minus the industrial looking
    staircase/bannisters. The view(s) is/are great.
