    Default Opdahl remastered

Case Study architect Edward Killingsworth’s masterpiece, the 1957 Opdahl House, fell into ruin, but thanks to a musician with a passion for modernism, it is celebrating its 50th anniversary in mint condition.
The Opdahl House, designed by Edward Killingsworth for Richard and Joyce Opdahl, is located on the island of Naples, in Long Beach, California, and the design responds to the constraints imposed by the compact site.Unlike the neighbors, whose homes unflinchingly abut their property lines, Killingsworth set the Opdahl House 42 feet back from the street, dedicating half of the lot to a dramatic entryway that includes a carport, garden, and reflecting pool. The effect is one of entering a private sanctuary.

Hate it with every bone in my body. Looks like some 1981 apartment.

I love it. The decor could use some tweaking--it's a little bit modernist frat boy--but the house is great.

Looks more like late 60's to me. It's awful.

I really like this - I love that retro feel, and I love the orange colours.
    I'm obsessed with orange.
    But I really dig it!

You can totally tell a single guy lives there. I bet that TV and mofo subwoofers in the bedroom really wow the ladies.

i think the house is incredible & the renovation - as far as i can tell - is near perfect. all the vintage furniture is amazing. but on the whole, it doesn't blow me away. and i've got no idea why. maybe it's because of the too obvious composition or the boring paintings & that ugly brown sculpture in his living room. or maybe it's because of the orange, red & earthy tones, that i'm not fond of, but he seems to like. i just can't get excited about this. and i know the nelson bubble lamp is considered almost mandatory but variation never hurt anyone. i'd sell it & buy something prettier.

i like the house a lot. but i agree with shinola about the frat boy feel. and with calcifer about a few things being 'off' and the colour scheme being not quite to my taste. i really dislike the bedroom.
